Function / Content

This series consists of business, residence garden mineral claim and prospecting applications for the Barrow Creek District. The numbers in the series are between BK 14 and BK 190 but BK 15-BK 21, BK 23-BK 24, BK 26-BK 30, BK 33-BK 40, BK 42, BK 46, BK 49, BK 51, BK 150 and BK 169 are missing. The applications consist of dockets containing Applications for Mining Claim forms and the docket consists of the folded foolscap forms with the back of the form functioning as the cover of the docket. This cover records the claim number, beginning with 'BK', the date of the application, a statement regarding the time and date of the application being received and the signature of the relevant Mining Registrar/Deputy Mining Registrar/Warden along with information about fees paid. If these applications were not signed by the Warden it is noted that they were forwarded to the Warden Tennant Creek. The Applications for Mining Claim form includes the Warden to which it is addressed, the date and time, the type of claim, its size and location/where it is situated and the name they wished to call it. Beneath this is a table including the signature of the applicant/s and their miner's rights numbers and date of issue. The back of these applications, and the back of the docket, include the location of the lease, including a rough sketches and a typed statement with further information about the location.
